It's been more than thirty years that Anthony Davis stays on the thin line between Jazz, improvisation and revamped opera at the same time. He wrote quite an impressive body of work in that matter, mainly unknown in France: he already composed six operas on contemporary libretti. He has been simultaneously a pianist with Marion Brown, James Newton, George Lewis, Wadada Leo Smith, Leroy Jenkins, Anthony Braxton, David Murray, Oliver Lake... And he generously gives away his solo appearances, from time to time, half-summary, and half-exploration: interweaving, reference, call to order and disorder, self dialogues that look a bit like romancing, mysterious winks... The whole lyrical art of gorgeous improvisation.

Roscoe Mitchell spent his life revamping the sound space, allowing any possible association. As early as his first record in 1966, and as a legendary member of the Art Ensemble of Chicago afterwards, he kept on looking for new ways. Ways to make space and intervals, tones and structures, as important as concordant harmonies, tempo and solos.
For a long time with the breathtaking Hugh Ragin and only recently with the stunning Tyshawn Sorey, he performs as a trio, still looking for brand new musical ways. Paradoxical ballads, unstable unisons, improvisations through the looking glass... A world of amazing transparency and thickness at the same time for a guaranteed change of scene.
