THE BRIDGE #3 "THE TURBINE !" / GUEST MARC DUCRETCréation
HAMID DRAKE, RAMON LOPEZ DRUMS / HARRISON BANKHEAD, BENJAMIN DUBOC DOUBLE BASS / MARC DUCRET GUITAR
"The Turbine!" stars two major bass players and two major drummers for a rhythm feast. However, this concert is not about a double rhythm section or about combustion - even if the Turbine crew has its tank filled up. Together, Bankhead, Drake, Duboc and Lopez weave bars after bars, as masters of time and swapping. Together they deal with material, movement, speed, flows and reality. They have asked Marc Ducret, guitarist, pointer and blistering embroiderer, to sift and magnetize their collective efforts. Together they put everything at stake with a great sense of direction that leads them and us to explore repletion.
MICHEL EDELIN QUARTET / GUEST STEVE SWELL
MICHEL EDELIN FLUTE, ALTO FLUTE, BASS FLUTE / JACQUES DI DONATO CLARINET, SOPRANO SAXOPHONE / STEPHANE KERECKI DOUBLE BASS / SIMON GOUBERT DRUMS / STEVE SWELL TROMBONE
Don't look up, you're already in heaven! And you never know, with such a shivering instrument as Michel Edelin's flute, if it's a North wind or a zephyr you are feeling.
With his art of sublimation, it would rather look like the bird and the wind playing together and trading their places in his flute. A man of companionship, Michel Edelin gets together again a recent quartet with Steve Swell, a trombone player from New York, as a special guest. Together, they'll wear their firelighter as a tool for improvisation.
Together, they'll address the following issues: how does all music turn as light as the flute with such intensity, clearness and grace? Can one really do whatever he wants? Yes, says Edelin and he will show tonight!
