JAMES "BLOOD" ULMER PHALANX REVISITEDInédit

JAMES "BLOOD" ULMER GUITAR, VOICE / LAKECIA BENJAMIN ALTO SAXOPHONE / MARK E.PETERSON DOUBLE BASS / G. CALVIN WESTON DRUMS

concert

They call him the 'Blues Preacher', he, son of a preacher man whose father taught the basics of sharp guitar playing and who now holds the secret of producing the blues' essence. He also was named 'Captain Black', he, favoured partner of Ornette Coleman in the seventies, when the saxophonist decided to plug his band and taught him new secrets. James "Blood" Ulmer will remain the initiator of the dodgy 'free funk', as influenced as free from his roots, as deeply rooted as highly uprooting. For instance, in the eighties when he formed an all-stars of rebels against the new order of 'neo-bop': Phalanx. All of his former fellows now gone (George Adams, Sirone and Rashied Ali), the guitarist rekindle their fiery memory with a new crew of pirates for a new Fire Music.

DEATH®

BOBBY HACKNEY BASS, VOICE / DANNIS HACKNEY DRUMS / BOBBIE DUNCAN GUITAR

Death® is a hybrid Afro-American power trio that plays garage rock and proto punk and has quite a puzzling history that reminds of Sixto Rodriguez, who also comes from Detroit. Having played rhythm'n blues and then hard rock, heralding punk, Death® disappeared in the mid seventies just after a first scathing recording "Politicians in my Eyes", and another one that remained unheard until recently. Those who once dared death itself (the reason for their name), reunited at the initiative of their own children, and haunt now the Brooklyn's Afro-Punk festival and Sons d'hiver. Be ready: Death® has risen from the dead. All can start again!
