KIT DE SURVIE

Serge Teyssot-Gay, guitar / Mike Ladd, vocals / Marc Nammour, vocals / Médéric Collignon, cornet, flugelhorn, beatbox / Akosh Szelevényi, saxophone / Cyril Bibeaud, drums

Survival Kit: a tribute to the fringes. A place to live but a place to observe the world, too. Here, the periphery is experienced as a free zone.

Kit de Survie is a tribute to the fringes, indeed – the fringes of financial powers that rule and manage our lives. "To move from a hostile environment to a Free Zone", a zone of resistance; such is this bold art project’s proposal/program hatched by Serge Teyssot-Gay who mixes Rock, Hip-Hop, Jazz, improvisation, and blur the lines to enhance them. A project that is also the build-up of three duos: guitar versus drummer Cyril Bilbeaud, two libertarian reeds, and two voices passionate about social critique and poetic invention. The result is a lucid and impertinent apology of abnormal forms in a conditioned environment with a fiendishly effective impact.

Production: Fondation Royaumont / Coproduction: Festival d’Avignon, Théâtre National de Strasbourg, Saint-Ouen’s Espace 1789 / "Production déléguée d’exploitation": Scène Nationale de Sète et du Bassin de Thau

CHARLES X

Cahrles X, vocals/ Mama J, vocals, percussions / Tony, keyboards, guitar, bass / Numa, sampling pad / Minimalkonstruction, drums

Named Dales Anthony Doss, he became "Charles X" after Charles Lindbergh, the first pilot to cross the Atlantic without stopover in a solo race, and after Malcolm X who dropped his slave name. More recently, he became a major Hip-Hop artist in Los Angeles with a musical, philosophical and political program that sounds like a twin of the Black Lives Matter movement, playing all aspects of popular Afro-American music. With his wonderful rapper-crooner voice, Charles X shifts alternately from the most biting Rap flow to a smooth Soul highlighted by his producer Redrun’s musical choices. Implacable.
