Michel Edelin flûte, compositions / Jean-Jacques Avenel contrebasse /
John Betsch batterie
GUESTS
Nicole Mitchell flûte /
Steve Lehman saxophone
Michel Eldin, virtuoso flutist, has developed over the years a language of his own. Assumed follower of Eric Dolphy, he is one the more inspired European flute players, an instrument to which he has decided to devote himself exclusively. For a few years, he regularly performs with Jean-Jacques Avenel and John Betsch. They'll be joined for the feast by flutist Nicole Mitchell (present leader of the AACM) and saxophonist Steve Lehman.

Within the Art Ensemble of Chicago or in any other project he's involved, sax and clarinet player Roscoe Mitchell is always breaking new ground where the boundaries between jazz, improvised music and contemporary composition are suppressed. This iconoclastic freedom of mind and action leads him to endless explorations. His music has a thoughtful aspect, a restraint, that do not exclude however tension and intensity; as perfectly witnessed by this incredibly homogeneous quartet within which Roscoe Mitchell carries on his searches mixing opened structures and collective improvisations.
