MARC NAMBLARD "LES VOIX ANIMALES" AN AFTERNOON DISCOVERING THE NOISES AND SOUNDS OF NATURESCREENING / TALK / PERFORMANCE
SCREENING of Stéphane Manchematin and Serge Steyer’s documentary
“Noise and hunting don’t go together”, according to an African proverb. Especially when the hunter preys on silence, which is exactly what Stéphane Manchematin, a documentary filmmaker eager to capture the tangible world, does. With Serge Steyer, he shot “L’esprit des lieux”, a delicate movie and an ode to slowing things down focusing on Marc Namblard, an audio-naturalist – a naturalist guide and sound artist. The film, a narrative portrait, immerses the spectators in nightly atmospheres, the sweet soothing slowness of everything that cracks, hoots and puffs – all the sounds come from Nambard’s sound library; subtly, relentlessly and patiently, he strives to record the poetry of all the noises and sounds of nature.

"PRÉSENCES", PERFORMANCE IN SITU (Premiere)
MARC NAMBLARD - sound broadcasting | MICHEL DONEDA - saxophone | ÉMILIE ŠKRIJELJ - accordion | LÊ QUAN NINH - percussions
Marc Namblard is also at the center of two other Sunday events. After the screening, stay for a conference: the naturalist guide and sound artist will showcase his close link with electroacoustic composers such as Christian Zanési, before offering a sound performance called “Présences”: an interplay between natural and human sounds, in situ in the exhibition “Le vent se lève” at MAC VAL. By his side, two pioneers of free improv: saxophonist Michel Doneda and percussionist Lê Quan Ninh, along with Emilie Škrijelj, a young accordionist completing the quartet and going off the beaten track. Which can be useful when you’re faced with a sound hunter.
