ANGELO DEBARRE GIPSY UNITY QUINTET / MARIUS APOSTOL
Guest Marius Apostol, violin
Born in Saint-Denis, Angelo Debarre comes from the growing family of Django Reinhardt’s successors. He learned music in the oral tradition of Gypsies’ feasts and gatherings. He developed his own ideas on this skillful blend of popular songs, rhythmic quality, improvisation and ornamentation. He fiercely stands his Gypsy ground, joining together the threads, fibers and strings of the Gypsy culture for a sheer traveler pleasure.
JAMES CARTER ORGAN TRIO 100 years of jazz"Django Unchained"
James Carter, saxophones / Gerard Gibbs, Hammond B3 organ / Alex White, drums
Tremendous. When James Carter came hurtling the jazzosphere, he staggered everybody. He was the saxophone all-rounder, using extensive skills and harmonic ability with a century of breaths and reeds in his breathtaking sax player body. It’s been fifteen years since he publicly confessed his secret love for another musical phenomenon, Django Reinhardt, whose art he delightfully takes over with his Organ Trio. Having audaciously learnt his classics, James Carter at last lengthens his stride making perfect use of his verve and liveliness in a joyful mood and the pleasant spinning of a crazy funk and Gypsy musicality.
