COAX INVITES PETER BRÖTZMANN
Has the Franco-German tandem run out of gas? On the world geopolitical scene, perhaps. Here and now at Sons d'hiver, this is far from being the case. The arrival of Coax follows in the footsteps of these groups of researchers who have spread throughout the history of the festival. An evening in the form of a carte blanche where the highlight will be three of the founding members of Coax, Desprez, Viard and Joussein inviting the talented percussionist Lucie Antunes as well as another historical fanatic of expressionism and political-musical networks, Peter Brötzmann. It should blow hard but never unnecessarily. Coax was created in 2008 by musicians as a cooperative where music is put back a hundred times on the job, in a DIY way. Detailed situationism, voluble expressionism, versatile prolixity; it would be easy to extend the list of common points between the two entities debating in this concert.
