ROSCOE MITCHELL & FAMOUDOU DON MOYE “The Art Ensemble of Chicago turns 50, and it was born in Paris”

Who needs a reminder? The Art Ensemble of Chicago is one of the most important and groundbreaking formations in the field of jazz – what they were first to call “Great Black Music.” It is, however, interesting that, after having experimented for years in Chicago's South Side, the band found its original form during a 3-year-stay in Paris, from 1969 to 1972. For their fiftieth anniversary, the two remaining original members discuss the events which changed the face of music forever.
