T(R)OPIC JULIEN DESPREZ & ROB MAZUREK ENSEMBLE
World premierePut a T(r)opic in your tank! The two powerful engines leading this unit are used to turbulence as well as to polishing sound layers in a cunning big band manner. Gathered by the Shore To Shore quintet and the transatlantic network The Bridge, Julien Desprez and Rob Mazurek brought together a dozen improvisation activists from the European, North and South American scenes. The cross-border combo sets no limits: avant-jazz, pop, Brazilian shamanic trance, hyper-urban noise, techno... Ten musicians "ready to play with anything, but not just any way", ready to confront each music played on Earth with its essence of free and highly transmissible media. A project built to last.
ANTHONY BRAXTON ZIM MUSIC
First appearance in FranceAnthony Braxton is a phenomenon that must be studied with tweezers and a sharp focal length. Never where one would tend to categorize him, always focused on the mutation of a music related to jazz as well as on contemporary experiences. Capable of inventing musical worlds, of digging into tradition, capable of composing pieces for a hundred tubas, capable of taking as a rule the theorems of Pythagoras or the topography of amusement parks. With this heterogeneous sextet whose name could be seen as programmatic: Echo Echo Echo Mirror House Musics, Braxton links reverberations, resonances, symmetries, calls and responses, to the eternal ceremonial part of his music. There, a sound utopia curls up, full of a desire for otherworldliness, that came to balance reality and imagination.
