TYSHAWN SOREY TRIO

FIRST TIME IN FRANCE
TYSHAWN SOREY - drums, percussions | CORY SMYTHE - piano | CHRIS TORDINI - double-bass

In the complex contours of Taoism, one can cross this kind of paradox: "He who knows does not speak. He who speaks does not know." Listening to this kind of saying, the convention breaks down, the brain is disturbed. Within the trio formed by Tyshawn Sorey with pianist Cory Smythe and double bassist Chris Tordini, the paradox plays with the subtle lines created and the physical energy that emanates from them. The body of musicians then appears as a simple vector of dynamism, richness and dispersion. There is what is being played. There is the air still free of any vibration. In the tiny gap between these two sentences exists a vast world, combining tranquility and ferocity. A world of broad reconciliation and striking intimacy of beauty.

Cascade in Slow Motion Jazz - Verisimilitude

SYLVIE COURVOISIER & MARK FELDMAN "PLAY JOHN ZORN"

SYLVIE COURVOISIER - piano | MARK FELDMAN - violin

Sylvie Courvoisier and Mark Feldman know very well what appeals to them in one another. For the former, it is the mirror handed by the violinist, braving with frank clarity the musical idioms. For the latter, it is the wedding organized by the pianist between the European classical tradition and the free heritage of a radical precursor like Cecil Taylor. The Swiss Chicagoan and New York resident duo joined the network of John Zorn, another unrepentant champion of mixes, who composed for them. By blurring the boundaries and handling the obvious with the same concern for the unheard-of and the zigzags, here is a duo capable of bringing out the universal and liberating aspects of music.
