ANTHONY BRAXTON - saxophones

Anthony Braxton is a phenomenon, as mentioned above. Highly volatile, unpredictable and self-demanding. A Braxton solo concert is a concert where a musician plays to determine his own equations in order to solve them with new musical logics. The solo experience is the foundation of his work and musical system, especially since Braxton was the first saxophonist in history to record solo, For Alto, in the late 1960s. Since then, he has never stopped working regularly as a soloist, both on stage and in the studio. This is the concert of a master of the genre, always busy unraveling the mystery of music by inventing, arranging and restructuring multiple combinations of elements at the same time. Imagination is in power.

First performance in France
DAVE DOUGLAS - trumpet | BILL LASWELL - bass | JON IRABAGON - saxophones | MARY HALVORSON - guitar | RAFIQ BHATIA - guitar | IAN CHANG - drums

In 2018, Douglas released one track per month from an album recorded a year earlier, UPLIFT, to the ears of a world in the throes of a hiccup crisis. The songs flay humanitarian flaws, ecological indifference, demographic indifference and democratic nonchalance. In order to attack the present with a concerned pleasure and a form of anger that knows how to remain playful, UPLIFT gathers around the trumpeter a cutting-edge commando. For this scenic version, bassist and producer Bill Laswell and Jon Irabagon (Most Other People Do The Killing), also welcome guitarists Mary Halvorson (Code Girl, 2018) and Rafiq Bhatia, electro warrior within Son Lux, whose drums are played by Ian Chang, also featured behind the drums of this concert.
