TONY HYMAS / DIDIER PETIT Inédit
TONY HYMAS. PIANO / DIDIER PETIT. CELLO, VOCALS
Mind-blowing! Together or separately, Tony Hymas and Didier Petit are mind-blowing. Sometimes it seems like Tony Hymas did everything. Take a look: he composed a tuba concerto, recorded Debussy's Studies for piano, played with Frank Sinatra and Jeff Beck, worked with Henry Mancini and Sam Rivers, paid a tribute to the Native Americans Chiefs, The Republicans of the Spanish Civil War and Gustave Courbet for Jean Rochard's Nato projects. Didier Petit's process is as rich and winding. He played with alarm sirens and bees; he took an interest in dyslexia and is preparing a journey into space to examine the possibilities of playing music in weightlessness... Together they pour out a happy knowledge, explore many different states, from the most thoughtful to the most frantic. Mind-blowing...
BLACK EARTH ENSEMBLE VS LABORINTUS Création"The arc of O" / Moments of fatherhood
• BLACK EARTH ENSEMBLE : NICOLE MITCHELL. FLUTE, COMPOSITION, DIRECTION / DAVID BOYKIN. SAXOPHONE / RENÉE BAKER. VIOLIN / ARUAN ORTIZ. PIANO
• LABORINTUS : SYLVAIN KASSAP. CLARINETS, ELECTRONICS / HÉLÈNE BRESCHAND. HARP, ELECTRONICS / ANAÏS MOREAU. CELLO / BENJAMIN DUBOC. DOUBLE BASS / CÉSAR CARCOPINO. PERCUSSIONS
Nicole Mitchell's music, along with Sylvain Kassap's world, shows a fundamental vitality, an answer to the false antinomies generated by years of classicism and avant-gardism.
Not only do their partnerships with musicians from the world around come one after another, but they also both conduct ensembles that reassess the way of writing music, thanks to their shared improvisers' experience overcoming all limits.
The flutist likes and masters concertos a la Duke Ellington and interplanetary explorations a la Sun Ra. The clarinettist has been revisiting and reinventing the contemporary songbook with Laborintus for twenty years. With part of the Black Earth Ensemble and departing from Luciano Berio and Franco Donatoni, they decided to dedicate themselves to a music-fiction (like you say science-fiction): an imaginative music.
