ENGLISH VERSION : Sylvie Courvoisier practices the art of the trio in its most audacious form. She infuses the beloved ensemble format with the exactitude of her writing and the exuberance of the freedom she has won in the course of an unusual career. The Swiss pianist, who moved to New York City in 1998, blazed a trail for herself through the heart of the avant-gardes. With the likes of John Zorn, Ikue Mori, and Christian Fennesz, she has explored excitingly unconventional projects involving unworldly textures and harmonies. This wealth of experience feeds the dynamic of the trio she has performed with for ten years. With Drew Gress and Kenny Wollesen, Sylvie Courvoisier has recorded only three albums. They are treasure troves of virtuoso composition, unexpected collisions, high-flying improvisation, and straight-ahead swing.

Fraîchement auréolé du prix Pulitzer pour son Adagio (For Wadada Leo Smith), courte et majestueuse pièce destinée à l’orchestre symphonique d’Atlanta, le compositeur Tyshawn Sorey est de retour à la batterie pour une rare apparition en France. Au fil des différents disques parus ces cinq dernières années, son trio – aujourd’hui composé du fidèle pianiste Aaron Diehl et du contrebassiste Harish Raghavan – s’est penché sur un Great American Songbook très personnel. Publié à l’automne 2024, The Susceptible Now regroupe ainsi quatre compositions signées McCoy Tyner, Joni Mitchell, Brad Mehldau et des plus confidentiels Vividry, groupe de soul contemporain. Dispersés façon puzzle et ré-agencés selon une grammaire propre au musicien, les morceaux s’en trouvent transfigurés.

ENGLISH VERSION : Recently crowned with the Pulitzer Prize for his Adagio (for Wadada Leo Smith), a short but majestic tribute commissioned by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, genre-defying composer Tyshawn Sorey will preside over the drums for this rare appearance in France. With his acclaimed trio, composed of the faithful pianist Aaron Diehl and upright bassist Harish Raghavan, he has been inspired since the pandemic to record a highly personal American Songbook, in addition to his other compositions. The Susceptible Now, their most recent offering, from the autumn of 2024, is made up of four tasty tracks by different musicians: McCoy Tyner, Joni Mitchell, Brad Mehldau, and the lesser-known contemporary soul group Vividry. Deconstructed and rearranged according to the architecture specific to Tyshawn, the music is transfigured.
