La cigale avait chanté tout l’été ? Papanosh et ses amis danseront cet hiver. Dans l’esprit hérité de la bande à Uzeste, des cabarets populaires, des fêtes improvisées dans le monde entier qui prête gentiment ici ses chansons. Papanosh ? C’est un ensemble réjouissant. De vieux amis reconvertis, au sein des Vibrants Défricheurs, dans la musique insolente, pleine d’une ferveur discrète et d’une joie partageuse. Ce bal aux allures XXL, posé au mitant du festival, s’impose. Frondeurs, les Papanosh la jouent plutôt free avec le savant et le populaire, adorés de Sons d’hiver. Ça joue pop pour faire valser les têtes et les corps. Papanosh célèbre le flou des limites et, c’est cocasse pour une tribu de fieffés laïcs, c’est une vraie bénédiction. Comme l’était leur hommage à Jacques Prévert en compagnie d’André Minvielle. Ce dernier, rejoint par Linda Olàh, Napoleon Maddox ou encore Bernard Lubat sera présent pour ce grand Bal d’hiver. De quoi réchauffer les cœurs et les corps. S’en fout le répertoire, s’en fout la mort. Vive la joie terrible. Pas mal pour le son d’un soir d’hiver.
ENGLISH VERSION : It’s a good thing the grasshopper fiddled all summer: Papanosh and friends will dance this winter, in the spirit of impromptu celebration that characterized the festival of Uzeste. The whole world lends its songs to Papanosh, a splendid band of old friends, veterans of Les Vibrants Défricheurs. They have begun making a new form of music, insolent and full of discreet fervor and generous joy: Papanosh. The extra-large dance night they will be offering us, right at the equinox of the festival, is a must. Rebels at heart, Papanosh takes liberties with the scholarly and folk schools. They’re not averse to playing a little oom-pah-pah waltz, and though they may be dyed-in-the-wool agnostics, they worship the blurring of borders. Oddly enough, their ecumenicism is a blessing. Their tribute to poet Jacques Prévert, with guest André Minvielle, is just one example. Mr. Minvielle, along with Linda Oláh, Napoleon Maddox, and even Bernard Lubat, will be in Vitry for the Winter Ball. Warm your heart and body. To hell with repertoire, to hell with death. Long live the utmost joy. What a program for the sound of a mid-winter eve.
